Sustainable Aviation Fuel credits (SAFc) are certificates that represent the environmental benefits of producing one metric tonne of pure (unblended) sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). They verify that SAF, which emits less CO2 than traditional jet fuel, has been created and used, helping to track and promote cleaner aviation fuel.
SAFc credits play a critical role in reducing the aviation industry’s carbon footprint, which accounts for about 2-3% of global CO2 emissions. By incentivizing the production and use of SAF, these credits help scale up cleaner fuel alternatives, driving down costs and encouraging innovation.
